Multi-step phase transitions and gravitational waves in the inert doublet model

چکیده
The inert doublet model is a well-motivated extension of the Standard Model that contains dark matter candidate and modifies dynamics electroweak symmetry breaking. In order to detail its phenomenology, we perform comprehensive study cosmic phase transitions gravitational wave signals implied by framework, accounting for latest results collider experiments. We require neutral scalar constitute, at least, subdominant part observed abundance. While most proceed through single step, identify regions parameter space where vacuum reached after multiple transitions. resulting spectrum generally dominated single-step and, in space, falls within reach future detectors such as LISA, BBO or DECIGO. find direct detection experiments efficiently probe associated with multi-step transitions, which remain unconstrained only Higgs resonance region testable monojet searches. implications new determination $W$ boson mass are also discussed.

Gravitational Waves from Electroweak Phase Transitions
Gravitational waves are generated during first-order phase transitions, either by turbolence or by bubble collisions. If the transition takes place at temperatures of the order of the electroweak scale, the frequency of these gravitational waves is today just within the band of the planned space interferometer LISA. We present a detailed analysis of the production of gravitational waves during ...
متن کاملGravitational Waves from Phase Transitions of Accreting Neutron Stars
We propose that when neutron stars in low-mass X-ray binaries accrete sufficient mass and become millisecond pulsars, the interiors of these stars may undergo phase transitions, which excite stellar radial oscillations. We show that the radial oscillations will be mainly damped by gravitational-wave radiation instead of internal viscosity. The gravitational waves can be detected by the advanced...
متن کاملDark Matter with Topological Defects in the Inert Doublet Model
We examine the production of dark matter by decaying topological defects in the high mass region mDM mW of the Inert Doublet Model, extended with an extra U(1) gauge symmetry. The density of dark matter states (the neutral Higgs states of the inert doublet) is determined by the interplay of the freeze-out mechanism and the additional production of dark matter states from the decays of topologic...
متن کاملGravitational Phase Transitions and the Sine-Gordon Model
We consider the Sine-Gordon model coupled to 2D gravity. We find a nonperturbative expression for the partition function as a function of the cosmological constant, the SG mass and the SG coupling constant. At genus zero, the partition function exhibits singularities which are interpreted as signals of phase transitions. A semiclassical picture of one of these transitions is proposed. According...
متن کاملPhase Transitions in Gravitational Allocation
Given a Poisson point process of unit masses (“stars”) in dimension d ≥ 3, Newtonian gravity partitions space into domains of attraction (cells) of equal volume. In earlier work, we showed the diameters of these cells have exponential tails. Here we analyze the quantitative geometry of the cells and show that their large deviations occur at the stretched-exponential scale. More precisely, the p...
